No Peace Without Steadiness
नास्ति बुद्धिरयुक्तस्य न चायुक्तस्य भावना।
न चाभावयतः शान्तिरशान्तस्य कुतः सुखम्॥
nāsti buddhir ayuktasya na cāyuktasya bhāvanā
na cābhāvayataḥ śāntir aśāntasya kutaḥ sukham
Translation
One who is not connected to the Supreme has no intelligence and no steady mind. Without a steady mind, there is no peace. And without peace, how can there be happiness?
Meaning
Krishna draws a direct chain: disconnection leads to lack of intelligence, which leads to an unsteady mind, which leads to no peace, which leads to no happiness. This verse is astonishing in its psychological precision — it shows that happiness is not the starting point but the result of a sequence that begins with inner alignment.
