Your Own Path

It is far better to discharge one's prescribed duties, even though faultily, than another's duties perfectly. Destruction in the discharge of one's own duty is better than following the path of another, for to follow another's path is dangerous.

This verse is a cornerstone of Gita philosophy. Your own dharma — even done imperfectly — is truer than someone else's dharma done flawlessly. The pressure to copy others, to follow trends, to live someone else's definition of success is "paradharma" — and it is dangerous. You are uniquely you, and your unique path, however messy, is yours to walk.
