Endure Without Disturbance
मात्रास्पर्शास्तु कौन्तेय शीतोष्णसुखदुःखदाः।
आगमापायिनोऽनित्यास्तांस्तितिक्षस्व भारत॥
mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya śītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ
āgamāpāyino 'nityās tāṁs titikṣasva bhārata
Translation
O son of Kunti, contacts between the senses and their objects give rise to feelings of heat and cold, pleasure and pain. They appear and disappear — they are impermanent. Learn to endure them without being disturbed.
Meaning
Krishna teaches that all sensory pleasure and pain are transient — like changing seasons. The mark of wisdom is not the absence of discomfort but the ability to remain equanimous through it. Endurance is a skill that can be cultivated.
